Professional Foster Parent   Do you have space in your home and heart for a child who has been left behind? Do you have love, time and attention to give? Make a difference and change a child's life.   Make a lasting impact on the lives of children and apply to become a Professional Foster Parent. As a Professional Foster Parent, you'll play a vital role in providing a nurturing and supportive environment for youth in need, contributing to their physical, emotional, and social well-being. The goal of foster care is to provide adolescents in need of an “alternate” family setting until they can reunite with their biological family or a permanent placement plan can be successfully achieved. Children need healthy childhoods as well as loving and skillful parenting that also honors their loyalty to their biological family. The purpose of the Department of Children & Families Partnership Plan for Children in Out-of Home Care is to articulate a common understanding of the values, principles and relationships necessary to fulfill this responsibility. The child will be placed in your home and you will be responsible for integrating the youth into your home life.   Position Overview: - The Professional Foster Parent program is a two parent and or caregiver program (husband, wife, partner, mother, father, child, etc). One of the individuals must have a very flexible schedule (works part time, is a student, or works from home) to adhere to the child’s needs and recognize behavioral patterns and changes. - The Professional Foster Parent family cannot have another child in their home that is younger than the individual they are taking in as a foster child. The child being placed into the home needs to be the priority and the family must be able to handle the level of behavior and temperament the foster child may have. - Provide a safe, comfortable and nurturing home environment while ensuring basic physical and emotional needs of the child. - Support school attendance, ensure children attend school regularly, monitor academic progress, and engage in school-related activities. - Attend medical and dental visits with children. - Cooperate with visitation plans, actively contributing to the child's reunification or permanent placement goals. Collaboration and Communication: - Actively participate in reviews and court hearings related to the child. - Adhere to the agency's training policy and comply with state regulations. - Support the child's emotional bond and involvement with biological parents and extended family members, if parental rights are retained. - Provide information about the child's growth, development, preferences, and achievements to biological parents. - Facilitate parental involvement in significant aspects of the child's life. - You'll have responsibilities to the biological parents such as helping the child maintain an emotional bond and involvement with the parents and extended family members, if parental rights are retained.
